Acknowledgement of Country
Wakwakurna Kanyini acknowledge the Kaurna people and their ancestors as the custodians of the Adelaide Plains region, on which our office is located.
We acknowledge all other Traditional Owners throughout South Australia and recognise their distinct cultural strengths and differences. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s connection to their lands, waterways and skies has never been ceded, and their wisdom and traditions remain vital to our shared future.
We pay our deepest respects to ancestors and Elders, whose enduring strength has ensured that Aboriginal culture continues to guide and shape the way we live, work, play, and raise our children. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are the first mothers and fathers of this country and we honour the 65,000 plus years of child rearing, nurturing and protection of their children.
We honour South Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, for whom Wakwakurna Kanyini seeks to promote, advocate and uphold their inherent and unique human rights to ensure they grow up strong with culture.
