SUSTAINABILITY

The environmental values of Montmorency Primary School support a whole-school approach to developing and encouraging a sustainable lifestyle that helps children understand and appreciate their connection to, and impact upon the natural environment. Our mission is to engage students, staff and the community to develop a sustainable school environment.

ResourceSmart

Montmorency Primary School started its journey to becoming more sustainable by getting involved in the ResourceSmart-AuSSI Vic (Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative) program in 2012. ResourceSmart AuSSI Vic consists of 5 modules:

  • Core Module

  • Waste Module

  • Energy Module

  • Biodiversity Module

  • Water Module

We are currently a four star school. We are very proud and excited about our achievement! We are working on becoming leaders in sustainability, with a focus on reducing our energy and water consumption to achieve our fifth star.

OUR INITIATIVES

NUDE FOOD

At Montmorency Primary School, educating children to make healthy decisions for their bodies and the environment is a vital aspect of our educational program. Nude Food Day combines both environmental awareness and nutritional health by building greater understanding of the effects that our food choices have on our bodies and the effects that rubbish/waste have on our environment. Nude Food is simply food that is not wrapped in foil, plastic or commercial packaging.
